For the next blog we have to choose a poem or a song and apply all the knowledge we have gained during this class. We have to identify the tone, symbolism, motif, archetype, and mood. Also, we need enough information about the poem or song chosen and its author in order to get a better interpretation of what we read. The essay must be well edited with MLA format, and it has to be at least four pages. To be honest, I do not really understand what motifs and archetypes are and how I can find them in a poem or song. The assignment is clear however I would like to know if we can choose any topic we want or it just has to be related with supernatural things. Besides, the professor should recommend us formal sources to get appropriate poems for the class. Well, I don't know what I am going to write for this essay yet. Everything is going to depend on what the professor will say the next class.

A motif is a repeated symbol or symbol type. For instance, in a poem if you see a tree, a bush, leaves, grass, and flowers (all symbols) these would add up to a "nature motif". An archetype is a BIG symbol like the crucifix, mother, father, hero, shadow, witch, the ocean. See?
